Dude…. LIMEWIRE F-ing SUCKS. Dont mess with them or Kazaa or the entire Gnutella network. Its packed full of spyware and tracking programs. Im not paranoid, I just know this for a fact because I got busted for copyright infringement and piracy a few years ago from using them for P2P connections. Also, make sure you check all the hidden files those programs leave behind. When you download using them it places multiple copies of the files into other folders you dont know about. Thats how it got me. Just thought you shold know.

Help please! How can I check my voicemail remotely? Anyway I can administer the greeting remotely?
Answer by racerx66
Call one of your office numbers that will eventually end up at a voicemail box, when you hear the greeting, dial **7 and you will the be prompted to log in with your mailbox # and password.
EDIT:
Sorry dial *7, I was in IP Office frame of mind

Hey there,
I’m looking to upgrade the phone system in our office to include call queuing, recording, and stats with automated greeting and attendant. We are currently running a Bizfon 680 system. We have the following:
-6 analog lines
-2 t-1 lines
-24 extensions (we’d like around 30)
I’ve worked with a linux system running asterisk before but that was a totally VoIP system. I liked working with asterisk but it’s been years since I’ve last touched it.
Is there a way to use some of the existing equipment (analog) and run asterisk with a linux server? Are there any recommended companies offering systems like what I need (I’ve researched a few but they sell the shabang at huge prices)?
Thanks so much in advance, and if you need any other information I’ll be sure to update!

ouch 2 T-1 lines…. for what? they have got to be costing you a fortune…
set up a VPN if need be, and get several DSL, cable modem, or FiOS lines (or a combination for redundancy)
I would recommend looking into a hosted VoIP solution.. it will be a lot more flexible in the future…

We have come across a situation where we would like to record some phone calls made in the workplace through our soft VoIP phones. Optimally, this software would be able to run on a computer connected to the same network without having to install anything on the server – however, I am not opposed to any solutions including the server.
We’re using Avaya VoIP phones that go directly into our network.
Answer by bully
what solution are you running for voip in the office?
do you use a voice gateway? is there a PBX server for your voip solution?
Additional – There are numerous suppliers of call recording solutions. Retell, telrex etc. I would suggest contacting your avaya re-seller and getting a quote from them.
All the solutions will require software running on a server (seperate box or possibly the Avaya controller) and a connection to your network. Depending on the solution the recording will need to have multiple network connections, one for admin and playback and one that will most likely use port spanning to sniff for the rtp (voice packet data) streams. in your network. Where that spanning occurs will depend again on what you want to achieve. To record external calls the spanning can be carried out at the voice gateway but if you also wish to record internal calls then further spanning will be required.
Sorry I can’t be any more precise but without detailed knowledge of your network and VoIP solution I can’t offer any further advice.

Hi my setup in the house so far is 2 telephone lines 1 for calls 1 for fax and a 4mb broadband , i will be starting my own buisness and was looking to get a phone system like big companies have
“press 1 to sale press 2 to complain etc.”
i would like the ability to monitor my calls on the desktop and see what department the call is coming to and accept basicly a switch board on my computer
im not too bothered about a desktop one this would cool although i would settle for a phone with flashing lites for diffrent departments , if possible ?
ive also heard about VOIP phone systems using my internet would it be alot more reliable to use a phone line instead of internet , incase of brakedowns?
Thanks for anyone that can help
Gary.
