iPod touch becomes iPhone using Yosion’s Apple Peel 520?
Oh sure, VoIP on the iPod touch is hardly breaking news these days, but what if you could actually slap on a regular SIM card and make calls on said device? That’s what Yosion’s appropriately named Apple Peel 520 claims to do. Powered by an Infineon baseband chip, this adapter not only offers voice calling and text messaging (presumably requiring a jailbroken iPod touch for the apps; GPRS not …

I’ve read somewhere that you can in fact use the first iPod touch to make VOIP calls with a plug-in mic and speaker. Is this so for the Griffin iTalk Pro?

I’m a student who needs a new mp3 player, an offline dictionary, a voice recorder to record class lectures, a portable email client, and a flash card app.
The Zune HD is a beautiful device. I adore the matte, platinum body, the rigid design, and the oled screen. The iPod Touch is horrendous. I hate the easily scratchable chrome body.
As an additional note, I do not have a cell phone.
Well, the Zune HD is the superior choice for someone who owns a smartphone or even a regular cell phone; however, I don’t. The Zune Pass is wonderful, unlimited music for $15/mo, and the white-on-black, text based gui of the Zune HD looks perfect.
However, for a student, like me, who needs a voice recorder, a flash card app, and an email client, the Zune HD was released unprepared. One obvious problem is that the Zune HD’s keyboard cannot change languages! That means I can’t make foreign language Flash Cards on such an app because the keyboard can’t be changed. However, I can make Russian, Japanese, and Attic Greek flashcards on the iPod Touch because it easily lets you swap through keyboard layouts.
Thus, if I get the Zune HD, then I’ll have to continue making paper flashcards.
Next, I hope the Zune HD releases a small microphone peripheral accessory along with a voice recorder app – because otherwise, the iPod Touch wins the day with the Voxie app and high quality recording.
Aesthetically, I’m attracted to the Zune HD. However, in practical terms, the iPod Touch is established and already works for what I need, having every app I need. However, I would regret getting the iPod Touch if the Zune HD comes out with the apps I need. Then the iPod Touch would have nothing going for it.
Zune HD + updated with apps I need + Zune Pass = BEST PMP.
Nevertheless, hoping that Microsoft will come out with these apps that I need may be far out wishful thinking. Do you think its realistic to expect any of these apps?
1. Offline Dictionary (e.g. Oxford Dictionary)
2. Email Client (with numerical superscript notifications for new messages)
3. Voice Recorder (like Voxie)
4. VOIP app (like Skype)
5. Flashcard app (with ability to change keyboard language)
6. YouTube app
You know, if Apple would have included a camera, as expected, I wouldn’t be struggling to decide. Additionally, if they would have offered a matte finish instead of an easily scratchable chrome, I’d be more easily inclined. However, I feel painfully condemned to choose Apple because of a few apps that might come out on the Zune HD in the future…
Which device should I get?

Please tell me this because I have looked all over the internet for the name of the app and all I have is that it is a white labeled app but I can’t find it on the app store.

I was wondering about adding this to my ipod touch just to have and try out. A few questions:
Will I have to jailbreak it, it is brand new, I just bought it a few days ago.
What VoIP service is good? Free?
Can I call other cell phones and land lines?
I would only be using it in the US.

Okay so I want to be able to make phone calls and receive them on my iPod Touch. What is the best service to do so? I won’t be calling internationally. I need more than 2 minute call length, I need to be able to call land lines and mobile phones. Texting is not necessary since I use aim for that. Yes, I do have a mic. Basically what I’m looking for is something where i can make and receive calls and have my own number. Also something that won’t burn holes in my pocket.
