I have phones in 7 different locations in my house other than where the gizmo needs to be connected. Is there a way to network my existing phones without trading them for a bunch of satelite portable phones?

We bought the Vonage phone adapter for our house. I am somewhat skilled in home wiring, and decided to try to get it throughout the house. Because Guardian set up our home wiring, all of our cable, telephone, intercoms, and home speakers go into one box in the basement which is neatly organized. So, I first unplugged the Cincinnati Bell line coming in. There is a plate where all the lines plug in. So I took the line that connects to the office (where the Vonage box is plugged into the wall), and plugged it into the line in port. You would think that all the phones in my house would has service, right? WRONG. Any reason why it won’t work? I checked the Vonage home wiring, and it says I shouldn’t have to rearrange my wire because the run in parallel, and if the main Telco is unplugged, and another one plugs in, it should automatically work. But, because my home is organized into one box with many port (like a giant router), I don’t think it is parallel. But just to be sure, I did what they asked and it still didn’t work. I have tested the lines to be sure they work, but its still the same. I hooked a phone straight to the Vonage box and it worked, so it is something to do with the home wiring. Any ideas? Once again, I have tested the lines back and forth, only the original Telco will work though the house.
Please help. I plan on calling Vonage this weekend, but I want to see if I can do this on my own.

Just closed escrow… it is a new house, with Cat 5e running to 9 locations in the house, and Coax to 9 locations as well. Inside my communications panel on my exterior garage wall, I have 9 Cat 5e cables running into the box and 9 Coax cables running into the same box. I have a power outlet installed in the box as well.
What do I need to get to make my system ready for FIOS? We have TV, DATA, and Voice available. Can the Cat 5e cables run both voice and data or do I have to use them as dedicated data lines only, and use verizons VoIP? I was looking at the structured wiring panels by levition… is that the route I need to go?

I am thinking about getting an residential ADSL Internet and VOIP phone.
However, my house is a new house and I don’t have any active land line. I don’t even have that Bell box (Network Interface Point – demarcation point) for my house. So I am not sure if I have any phone cable going from my house to outside…
Please advice

Both phone systems are made be GE, but they are two different models. I have VOIP so I can only connect one base to the “computer”, (I’d rather not have two bases in one room), so is there anyway that I can connect one type of handset to a different type of base.
Is there any way to reconfigure how the phones are connected?

I just downloaded and installed iCall free VOIP service on my laptop. It works great, but the only way I can use it to communicate is to plug in a studio microphone (not a headset) into the computer. Its bulky and it sucks! So I have been trying to connect a standard house phone into the phone jack on the computer to use that to communicate with… I just can’t figure out how to get it to work. My internet is connected in a different port on my laptop. I know there has to be a way to do this without purchasing external hardware. Is there a recommended software that I can download or a certain setting on my computer that I have to change. I’m going NUTS!! I have been trying for a couple of hours now to figure all this out. I just can’t, so I took a Valium and decided on Yahoo! Anwers for help.

I have normal phone line and a VOIP line. I am trying to use two different 5.8 GHZ cordless phones. But since I started doing this I am not receiving calls on my normal line.
I called the phone company and they say that it must be in my wiring and they will send somebody out. But I do not think that it is my wiring.
Please help!!!!
How would you check the channels that they are on?
