Japan Enterprise VoIP Equipment and Devices 20092013 Forecast and First-Half 2009 Analysis

This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J9030108) provides the results and forecasts for the Japan enterprise VoIP equipment market for 2008–1H09 and 2009–2013, respectively. The enterprise VoIP equipment market slumped in 2008 due to the impact of the changes in the Japan economy, and this trend continued in 1H09. The deterioration of the economy over the last few years will result in reduced IT spending by users and the continued slump of the enterprise VoIP equipment market. However, IDC forecasts that as the economy improve, demand for replacements will also pick up and the market will gradually get back onto the path of recovery.

“In order to preserve the Japan enterprise VoIP equipment market, vendors and sales channels should reduce the spending risks perceived by users through establishing attractive pricing systems, such as licenses, and provide contracts that guarantee results,” says Takashi Manabe, research manager, Communications, IDC Japan.

Japan Enterprise VoIP Equipment and Device End-User Survey and First Half 2007 Analysis

This IDC study (which is a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J8240101) presents IDC’s analyses of the enterprise VoIP equipment market as well as vendor shares in 1H07 as well as analysis of the VoIP equipment market trends from users’ perspectives based on the findings from IDC’s enterprise user survey conducted in July 2007. The size of the enterprise VoIP equipment market in 1H07 reached 53.1 billion yen. IDC estimates that the market size for the year 2007 will register a year-on-year growth of 5.6% to reach 90.4 billion yen.

“Users regard VoIP equipment as a means of communication cost reduction through replacement of telephony systems. On the other hand, they are not happy with the actual result of cost reduction and the traditional sales methods are coming to an end. VoIP equipment vendors and sales channels should provide equipment and packages to suit individual market segments, such as those based on user scale, and present the effect of indirect cost reduction by implementing IP telephony systems in quantitative terms,” observes Takashi Manabe, research manager, Communications, IDC Japan.
