can anyone recommend a cell phone that allows to use also as a yahoo voice or skype phone when in range of a wi fi. preferably tri band gsm and or 3g. I am on Sprint GPS and also T-Mobile. I mainly use yahoo voice on my lap top with headset. Would be great if I could use one phone for cell and voip calls. Thanks!

I know someone who has a VOIP home phone service and would like to get certain text messages sent to them there and get them via email as opposed to their cell phone. Has anyone ever heard of this idea or if it could be done?
Answer by Richard Holms
Yes, it is called “Text to Land line” (regardless if the number you are trying to push the text to is VOIP it will still work.) I know Sprint does it, so do others.
Here are a few links to check out:

What I want out of it is:
Use Skype (VoIP)
Use in Europe and in U.S.
use on Mac OS X
What do you recommend?
Answer by FunFred
Sprint’s 3G card. It is really fast (almost like their name…). Also, Sprint is pretty cheap.
However, if you already have a cell phone, it might be cheaper to add one of these to your current plan (with all of the cross-promotions and stuff).
I can’t give you a direct link (it requires a ZIP code), but if you go to Sprint’s site and click on Mobile Broadband Cards, you will find it.

My VoIP phone has only the RJ-45 port and no USB port to connect to a USB bluetooth adapter. How do I get around that and what products are recommended?
Answer by HolySchmolee
You’re wanting to use your cell phone to make VoIP calls? If that’s what you’re trying to do, you can’t do it. I use VoIP and it’s controlled by the adapter that was provided by the VoIP company. Attaching anything other than a residential phone isn’t supported.

I got a voice over IP phone a few months ago. … It has had its share of problems, but it is much more affordable than a landline. As one of the features, I have it set up to forward calls my my cell phone after a certain number of rings.
So here’s the problem part and the weird part:
There is a phone company for right outside my city limits. They have their own set of numbers. (I am guessing this is normal) A few weeks ago I started getting a 30 second or more delay before the numbers at my office would ring from either of my phones.
Fast-forward to this weekend. I can not get through to work at all from my cell phone. In fact, for EVERY number in that area, I get a recording that the number has been disconnected or is no longer in use.
Since Friday: If I call this area from my home VoIP phone, I usually get tired of hearing the silence. If I wait long enough, sometimes I get a fast beeping (as if I left my phone off the hook too long), one time I actually got through! And twice (once when calling the phone company’s number and once when calling work) the call was forwarded to my cell phone.
This makes absolutely no sense to me! … OK, maybe if the voice over IP company is misconfigured that would have something to do with my calls being forwarded to my cell phone twice. But why on Earth can’t I call that area from my cell phone?
At first I thought the numbers I was trying to call were broken. But when I tried from my grandmother’s house, it went through perfectly. Her phone is from the cable company, so it isn’t a regular landline either.
Things got even weirder when I spoke to my own phone company! — I guess I will email or drive to the phone company in charge of the numbers I can’t get through to Monday. (lol, I tried calling them, but since they have a number local to theirself – I couldn’t get through!)

Washington State’s New Hands-Free Cell Phone Law: Businesses Face Unique Challenges and Issues Regarding Compliance
SEATTLE, WA–(Marketwire – 06/10/10) – As Washington State gears up for its new law that makes hand-held cell phones and text messaging while driving a primary offense, many businesses in the state face their own unique set of challenges in complying with the law: how to handle employees who spend a significant part of their workday on the road. Two Washington companies, DialPro Northwest and …

I have a typical (but non-ADT) alarm system that dials out through the phone line. I am happy with my alarm company’s monitoring and pricing–roughly $24/mo–but want to drop my land line phone since I have T-Mobile service cellular service. My alarm company quoted me about $350 in equipment and an ADDITIONAL $10/mo monitoring to go to cellular backup.
I’d like alarm to be able to dial out wireless if needed for phone cost savings as well as the added security. I’m not sure why they charge extra for the monitoring since I’ll be buying it outright. Is there a module that can be bought that can use one’s cell phone service? (I don’t want a VoIP product because if they cut my cable line I’m screwed)

Ok i know many businesses have “Virtual assistant” services but some do alot more then i want and offer more then i want. In my absolute ideal situation there would be a reputable service, maybe even local to Minnesota, in which i would get a call and they would have some virtual assistant say “You have reached……….” or whatever they say and then they say “Just a moment and we will connect you” all obviously pre-recorded. Then they will forward the call to me on my cell phone and when it gets to my Cell phone the company will use a NON Toll free number. And this is because a person then could have My Circle or My faves on the phone and add the number the company calls from and then all calls would be included in the cellular plan. Now i have seen GotVMail and Toktumi which both look great but GotVmail is like a cellular plan already in that it has a limited number of minutes. But it has more Toll Free number options then Toktumi. Does anyone know of a business that has just those two simple things the “Virtual assistant” and the forwarding with a Non-Toll free number? Because the way it works is they use your own number to forward the calls. So if you have a toll free number they will send the call to you from your toll free number and since those My faves and such dont support toll free numbers you pay for it see?
If you are asking why i dont just get a land line its because my home office is in the middle of the house, to far for a wire, and to unpredictable for VOIP. I tried.
The other option i guess is get a local number and get any of the before mentioned services and then all will go through their system and when i get a call it will be from my local number which i can use as a My Fave type of deal but that obviously limits calls. So if anyone has any ideas i would really love to hear about it, thanks!
I think there may be some confusion in what i wrote. Because it doesnt have much of anything to do with my cell phone. My faves is My faves across the board, and they wont allow 1 800 numbers so if i have one and i have a virtual number relay the call to me it will come in as a 1 800 number which i cant mark as a Fave. That why i was hoping there was a company that when they relay the call it will show on my cell phone as a NON toll free number. So i could fave that number and all calls would come through that number so there would be no cost for the calls through that virtual number.

I currently have VOIP service but I’m droping my cable internet at my shop for a mobile air card. I’m not at my shop much and I could use my internet service on the road more than in the shop. The downside is that my VOIP service provides my voice and fax line. Without the internet the VOIP won’t work. I plan on switching to a internet fax-to-e-mail service but I don’t see the need in paying $29.99 for the VOIP service just to have my calls forwarded to my cell phone. Is there any way to pay a company to instantly forward my calls to my cellphone for around $10 since I won’t be using them for long distance or any outgoing calls? The local phone company isnt very friendly with business numbers. I could get a basic residential line and have it forwarded for $9.99 but the business number that I have has a minimum charge of $54.99 w/ Bellsouth.
