Skype is not the first VOIP product, nor the best. Then why did it create a mini-revolution in the telecom space? It seems to have revived VOIP, but I don’t understand how Skype differs from the other players.
Answer by Eagle_Kiwi
I think perhaps the right place at the right time, a product aimed purely at that one market, and very good marketing.
But I believe their golden run is nearly over – with Yahoo now very aggressively pursuing the same market.
Skype is “known” by VOIP enthusiasts, many of whom have become that way due to Skype.
But Yahoo is known by virtually everyone on the whole internet, and ALL those people are now becoming exposed to real possibilities of VOIP direct through “their” Yahoo.

Hi,
i wanted to know what do you think would be the fastest way to call 300-400 telephone numbers from a list using voip? is there any program that can call numbers in sequence non-stop? let me know!
Answer by Jennifer
If you want to talk to the person at the other end, then I would suggest you take a look at ExpressDial which works seamlessly with the ExpressTalk softphone to dial a list of phone numbers in sequence.
If you want to just play an automated message to the people on the list, then you might want to take a look at the outbound dialing features of IVM.
Here are some links for you to read more. All three of these apps have free 14-day trials.

try either rebtel or jajah. Both are pretty good. Some countries you can call for free between the subscribed users. Also, try fonemine.com to call in usa and canada for free.

I am searching for a website such as www.sipgate.co.uk (that give a free UK local phone number of your choice – using X Lite software) that give a free SIP based Switzerland phone number.
Answer by Stella
Switzerland is one of those expensive VOIP countries somewhat. You may not be able to get a free SIP for that country but you can get one for very cheap. Localphone a UK based company gives phone numbers in over 150 countries for a month. It is cheap and can be used from USA, UK or computer. I use that service with there SIP settings on Xlite. Works great. You can find more info about them in the source, thats where I get all my VOIP questions. I call out of country alot so its a good site.
