Should there be an asterisk next to Brett Favre’s records since he was addicted to pain killers?

No one seems to remember that incident. Of course he is going to start every game for many years when he doesn’t feel any pain. I don’t think anyone cares for some reason. I think he is the most overrated quarterback in history.
P.S. I am not a Chargers fan.

You must be a charger fan.
dude. his career was almost over because of that in 1995, over a decade ago. he quit that stuff, its called rehab. at least favre admitted to abusing it early in his career, and i’m glad he quit. favre’s the man. you’re a typical favre hater who is upset cause you just realized favre aint washed up. i’m sorry you couldnt pay close attention to the packers roster the past couple years to wonder why he wasnt so dominant. oh, by the way, the packers OL is still horrible and they still dont have a running game. it’s all favre and all packers D. by the way, favre won his super bowl the year after he quit the pain killers. on top of that, pain killers are used by many athletes, just wonderful favre managed to quit them. they arent illegal though, unlike steroids. if you’re a chargers fan, what are you thinking posting this question? merriman was and probably still is a huge steroid user. you are a sore loser or just a typical favre hater that doesnt know what he is talking about.
I dont think it is anything nearly as bad as bonds, and how he ruined baseball for many…
P.s
Brett Favre is the real, ‘future hall of famer’.
Painkillers don’t make him do anything he normally wouldn’t be able to do, thusly they are not “performance enhancing” drugs. Everyone in that league is taking some from of painkiller, favre just got himself addicted.
Awww did you wet your diapers that Brett Favre spanked the Chargers? Get over yourself that was 10 years ago. Is it an illegal substance? No. Did Shawne Merriman use illegal substances? YES, so why dont we take away his sacks last year? How about we put asterisks next to Bradys Superbowl wins sine theyre accused of cheating, which is ILLEGAL.
Sounds like a sore loser to me…
pissed off charger fan it’s ok there is always next season oh and by the way i read his autobiography and i doubt the pain killers had any affects on his touchdown record their not steroids u know
This might be the most ignorant question in Yahoo Answers Sports history…
oh are you just sad because hes the greatest ever and is dominating right now. Poor little baby has to make stupid excuses on why hes so good. Your a little bitch
Maybe he should – for the fact that he was able to put up stellar performances while in a Vicodin induced haze. I had that stuff after some minor surgery and it doesn’t kill the pain, it just make the couch REAL comfortable.
I do believe that Brett Favre is a pretty good quarterback and is very talented. However, I also agree that there seems to be a double-standard for certain well liked professional atheletes like
Favre and others who have experienced problems.
I am neither a Charger fan or a Packers fan but I have common sense. If Brett Favre were any other quarterback, the controversy probably would have followed him around a lot longer than it has. I also don’t see how his painkiller abuse can just be easily dismissed by his supporters as a youthful mistake that he overcame by confessing and rehabilitation.
I think that if we are going to hold Barry Bonds to one standard, we need to be willing to hold Lance Armstrong, Floyd Landis, Mark Maguire, Jose Conseco, and anyone else accused of steroid/substance abuse to the same standards.
We can’t isolate professional athletes based upon their public appeal and skin color. If they get caught with their hand in the cookie jar, we need to hold their feet to the fire and if they are only suspected of doing wrong like Barry Bonds and Pete Rose, then we need to let it go until they either test positive or are proven guilty in a court of law.
Don’t get me wrong, Brett Favre is good but I think that both Dan Marino and John Elway were better quarterbacks overall. The only advantage that Brett Favre had over both of them is time and youth.
He has been playing for 17 seasons now, so it only stands to reason that he was going to break most of the quarterback records sooner or later, based on the total amount of time and games that he has played in the NFL.
Although, if you were to compare John Elway, Dan Marino, and Brett Favre in the same amount of time and years that both Marino and Elway were active…Elway and Marino had the better records and performances, so overall Favre is not that impressive.
Look, I’m not disgruntled about Favre but I certainly don’t think that he’s reached god status like John Madden likes to elevate Favre to be. I just wish that people would be realistic about him and realize that he’s not as consistent as he used to be and his abilities have declined considerably as he gets older, which should be expected.
