voice over internet protocol machines need an ethernet cable with internet connected.so if u plug it in,it will work fine. a router is recommended though cuz if u just do this then u wont have internet for ur other devieces.(unless its wireless modem and router)

you can then plug your computer into the VoIP phone (if you do not have a router) because almost every VoIP SIP phone, or adapter (not all, but most) have an LAN and a WAN port….
