I like to know how to add VOIP (pc/phone to pc/phone) calling facility to a web page. I did some reading and leant some theory about the protocols, gateways, Gate keepers etc. But I was unable to find out answers to basic questions like
1) Who are the Gatekeepers who can sell me a SIP username.
2) From where do I get the SIP username and Passwords needed to connect to a SIP gateway?
3)Do I need to have my own Gateways or can I use a third party gateway for a fee, if so where can I find one?
Thanks in advance,
Axell.

When I am on my voip phone and surfing the web at the same time, the other person’s voice sounds choppy. How can I fix the problem so that I can talk and surf without their voice sounding choppy?

Just wanted to do a little comparison, I had both of them and I think Landline sounds clearer, and it works when the power goes out. Then there’s VOIP which saves you a lot of money and gives you all the calling features, but the sound quality isn’t as clear as landline. Also VOIP will not work when the power goes out. Overall, which is considered to be more reliable?

On a (Thomson SpeedTouch 534) modem/router is a hub connected and on it are 2 notebooks and a Linksys SPA1001 VoIP adapter.
When I type: http://192.168.1.254, one notebook produces a gateway timeout instead, the other notebook shows the modem/router driverpage as expected (ie and netscape).
This happens also if I type 192.168.1.66 which is the IP of the VoIP adapter.
I can access internet with both of the notebooks, I can also ping these IP’s.
Obviously both notebooks must produce the modem/router page.
How can I fix this problem?
This occured some time ago.

I’ve been using Skype for years, but I’ve become increasingly dissatisfied with Skype’s poor — or more appropriately, non-existent — customer support and ridiculous payment (“credit”) system.
What other reputable VoIP services would you recommend? Please recommend a few so I can make comparisons.
Skype is the only famous VoIP I know of. I want a VoIP that also offer mobile service and in-home devices that can act as a home phone.
